Take a break…go for a walk…
Micro-jobbing can get very tiring, so I thought I’d take a break and go for a little walk. This turned out to trying to walk the 95 miles of the West Highland Way in a 46hr window (to get a train back from Fort William on Sunday night) … starting at 7pm on Friday evening … as you do…
Sadly it wasn’t possible to complete the route as my projected completion time would have had me stranded in Fort William on a Sunday evening. The 40 miles of the route from Tyndrum to Fort William doesn’t run past the trainline so there wouldn’t have been a chance of getting the train on the way past, so I decided to call it a day at 1am on Sunday. A little disappointing but as I got some proper kip in a Hay barn, I dozed off thinking I’d put in a good effort…

Lessons learnt:
- I can sleep 3.5hrs from Friday 7am to Sunday 1am and still do a day at work, drive 200miles to Glasgow and walk 50miles
- Cheese pasties as sole carbohydrate source for a big walk isn’t the best idea in the world (well sick of them by the end)
Clearly valuable lessons for micro-jobbing and with my little holiday over, it’s back to work….
