Hustling to pay back a £3.5k spin…

I Crashed My Friend's Lotus

A veritable flurry of Micro-jobbing!! 0

After Micro-job-long-time #10, it was time for a flurry of micro-jobs: could I fill and paint one lodger’s room and paint a kitchen in 2 days? A meaty 4 micro-jobs packed into one weekend?

Of course! Now how to prepare? A charity walk for work on Friday was followed shortly by a free meal and bar and as Saturday dawned, so did a chorus of angry monkeys in my head. Fortunately, I had prior arranged to run 12k with my friend Steve at 8am.

One slightly knackering run later, 1 chicken sandwich and several fizzy pops later, Micro-job man was sharp and back in the game. I started with the kitchen, some sanding and prep work before moving to fill and prep the lodger’s room. As evening came, the first coat went on the kitchen and then it was time for some much needed sleep. 9am Sunday saw the first coat in the lodger’s room, then back to the kitchen, final coat in the lodgers room and then tidying all round..

After 19hrs of DIY, I was too knackered to take any photos…. and went and had a brew before settling into my sofa with a beer…

Still such hustling has meant, I’VE BROKEN THE £2K MARK!!! Yes, only £1953.81 to go!!

Micro-jobbing hits the Dakar!! 0

A friend of mine sponsors an up-and-coming rider who recently entered the Dakar 2009 in S. America. Could Micro-job man come to the rescue with some late night video editing??

Of course, Micro-job man is not just DIY-obsessed -

Crashed Lotus Elise: The bill’s arrived… 0

Well, the bill’s arrived and it’s not pretty. However, it’s not quite as painful as it could have been (slightly less than the garage’s £4k estimate). The final repair bill is £3336.54 (garage) + £180 (got my neighbour mechanic to have a look when I only thought a new track rod was required), bringing the cost to a total of £3516.54. I’ll get the bill scanned in and you can see the pain of it all….

Given I drove the car for a total of about an hour over the day, that’s some hefty cost for some fast fun…

In terms of earning it back, still very early days. My friend Jim had a fine idea of splitting the repair bill into 100 jobs of £35 each and has kindly offered to pay the first unit for me to obsessively clean his motorbike for sale. I’ve setup Google Adsense on this page for any Lotus-owners that fancy a click-through and so far have earnt 73p. Only £3515.81 to go!!!

On a final note, I had to buy a new pair of work shoes recently (post-crash). Didn’t notice at the time but later on spotted something rather interesting – some wierd karma stuff is happening….
